Peter Schulmeister

Peter Schulmeister

Born in 1977 and known from his engagements as concertmaster and principal second violin with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Wurttemberg Chamber Orchestra and others, Peter Schulmeister began his career very early. At the age of five, Schulmeister had his first violin classes, at eight his first solo concerts and at ten his first solo tour. Part of his education were studies with Prof. Melcher of the Melos Quartet, a scholarship of the Obersdorfer Music Festival and studies with Prof. V. Tretjakov in Cologne, Germany.

Among the many prizes that Peter Schulmeister received are a 1st prize at the national level of “Jugend musiziert”, a 2nd prize and audience special award at the 1999 “Julio Cardona” violin competition in Portugal, as well as a 1st prize at the 2000 international violin competition “Vittorio Pizianti“ in Venice. As a part of the LIONS-Music-Competition Germany, Schulmeister received the 1st prize and fellowship, which included the honour to play the 1709 Stradivarius “King George” during his engagement at the “Amar-Quartet”.

Other achievements of his musical career include a scholarship with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich under L. Maazel and M. Jansons and engagements as concertmaster with the Mannheim Kurpfalz Chamber Orchestra.
